Both Knees in pain can anyone help?!

Question: Hi,
I have knee pains in both kness for about 4 years now, ive only just turned 18 and im really worried.

My knees hurt more when i go upstairs, jump, run stand for a long time kneel down, sit on my knees and my knees go stiff when i get out a hot shower/bath.
I am waiting for an appointment for a scan but was wondering if anyone has the same problem and what can it be?

Pleae reply.

First look at whether you are over weight. Our joints were created to carry normal weight for your height. That would be the first cause of pain.

Ice them and keep them up as much as possible. Are they hot? Taking Ibuprofen every 4 hours will help relieve inflammation and swelling. DO NOT DO ALL OF THE THINGS THAT CAUSE PAIN. The steel hinged knee supports are very helpful.

It can be Rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis or damage to your knee joints or tissue.

Good Luck in resolving the problem.

I've had that happen to me before. I used to play baseball and basketball in high school. Once I got to college, I pretty much stopped because I wasn't good enough, so other than pickup games and playing catch, I wasn't as active. I started running everyday to help out, and it has worked. I haven't felt any pain at all ever since. And by the way, yes, the first few days of running were very painful. After about the first week though, it got better.
