Sounds like a panic attack to me... I have bad anxiety and when I drink it sometimes makes it worse.

I've had the same thing happen after drinking, or just when I'm really tired and worn out. I don't know what it is, but it usually stops in about ten minutes and I'm able to go back to sleep.
It hasn't killed me yet.

Was this the first time you and your best friend went to bed together? Did you express feelings together perhaps for the first time that maybe lingered beneath the surface but never came above the surface until last night? It sounds to me like you had your first real panic attack. And it is the scariest thing ever. There are only 2 ways to stop a panic attack. One is medication, and the other is relaxation or meditation. It sounds like you were able to relax yourself by going outside for fresh air. But, I would advise telling your doctor what happened, and asking for something incase it ever happens again that you can take to settle it down.

Did you drink any Jager Bombs or any too many energy drinks?

I had this many times, not saying this is your problem, but mine was panic attacks. I had a holter moniter placed for a day.. (a monitor the doctor attatches to you for a day to track your heatbeat.) came back i had an ectopic heartbeat...not a regular one...many many people have this and almost all the time it is benign. Call your doctor and tell him your symptoms. Antianxiety meds like Effexor xR have helped me.
