GROSS! but i need help (graphic images)?!

Question: about one month ago i accidentally closed the car door on my left index finger. It was really swollen. and the nail "died"
the nail was super black. but the swelling went away for about a week. It was pretty normal till yesterday.

i noticed that the nail was loose. so to prevent anymore accidents i slowly tore it out (it didn't hurt). It was like 2 pringles stacked. anyway underneath is GROSS.

the white parts is like the same texture like that of a normal nail. the black part is probably rotten scabbish blood??

how do i treat it?
how do i clean it?
should i use a bandaid?
should i keep it open?

(please no more nasty comments! i KNOW that its gross ok?)

The nail would have come off on it's own anyway. As long as there is no open wound and no signs of infection(tenderness, redness, swelling, pus)the nail should eventually grow back. A bandaid is not necessary unless it would make you feel better. Wait it out and let it heal on it's own. The black part is dried blood. Not so gross and the pics are clear and excellent. You are lucky you didn't fracture a bone.

Time... you just need time.

keep it clean try an antibiotic cream, tray a band aid or a sterile dressing and medical tape, leave it open at night and in time the nail will grow back

first rinse it with water - you have no idea how dirty it could be. just rinse it. don't rub it under the water if it hurts. get it as clean as you can for a first, then treat it as a normal cut. i wouldn't use a bandaid but there's no need to "keep it open". just keep it clean and your body will do the rest.

Simple...use Hydrogen Peroxide, as it will aide in cleansing the area, help remove infection and prevent it...If possible, leave it open to keep it dry and aired out..and all should be fine. My BEST to YOU...
