My fingertips hurt after having them warm up from the cold.?!

Question: I should get a pair of gloves.

Anyways, I was at work and they made me bring in all the carts from outside and its really really cold out, I only had a sweatshirt....So I brought in most of the carts and I went in because it was to cold.
After i went in, My hands were bright red and i couldn't feel them. I went in to put some warm water on them and dry them off with the air dryer, and it hurt pretty bad. So after i was done with work I still feel the pain in my finger tips?

Is this normal?

There is no need for you to go to the ER(that is just silly and a waste of your time and money).
When you are out in the cold for a period depending on the temp it is possible to get frostnip.Usually, the skin tissues affected with frostnip do not feel painful. Tissues affected with frostnip are soft and resilient (if a person presses against the tissue, the skin indentation springs back). Tissues may appear red, yellow, or gray. Full recovery is expected. When you thrust your hands into warm water ....blood comes rushing in to the hand and finger tips. Imagine trying to fit a gallon of water through a straw. It is the same. The soreness will go away, once the tissue repairs.

exactly how long were you outside? Also, touching the metal carts, if your fingers still hurt even after warming up, it is possible you may have experiences a minor case of frostbite.

next time make sure you have some gloves, because being out in the cold is serious stuff, and depending on how cold it is outside, it doesn't take very long to develop frostbite.

THA MIGHT BE A SIGN OF FROST BITE YOU SHOULD GO TO THE ER. TO AHVE THAT CHECKED OUT, I KNOW YOU WASNT YOUR FINGERS.

yes. your blood vessels have constricted from the cold and you are warming them up too fast. try massaging your fingers and blowing warm breath on your hands before putting them in water.
