Do you "drop" before you fall asleep or during sleep?!

Question: I like this feeling but;

When your falling asleep or during sleep, do you feel like you fell and hit rock bottom. boom!

When I do that, I feel like the entire bed just hit a solid surface.

I wonder what causes that?

It is when your body is falling to sleep but you're brain is not ready to switch off yet and sort of jolts your body back into wakefullness.

Oh my goodness, I get that every night and I have always wondered what it is.
I think it's just your body ready to literally hit the REM stage of your sleep.
Still, it's possibly my favourite feeling in the world...I'm half conscious and tired and I know I'll be out in no time.

No, I've never experienced this, but I do feel as if the bed tilts sometimes. It's like the whole bed tilts and then I wake up in a panic, because I think I'm going to fall off.

Yeah i get that sometimes as I'm just dropping off. Apparently it's quite common. Also sometimes wake up and it feels like I've fallen or when you misjudge something, like the number of steps when going down stairs and you get that feeling in your feet.

I have figured out that when that happens you have a lot of tension or something major is on your mind and you tend to pull it in while you are sleeping and you just want to end it all there but you cant. So in other words your dreams come to a halt or crash. All you need to do is fall asleep thinking of anything else happy or good that has happened during your day. It has helped me many times cause It used to happen to me till I figured this out. And I never have that feeling anymore.

If I'm really tired, I will feel like I'm falling.
