First, avoid lying down within the first couple of hours after eating, and of course, avoid foods that tend to give you heartburn.

If that doesn't work, Sucralfate is a medication that coats the stomach and doesn't cause problems with systemic absorption (should be safe for the baby); you would need a prescription for that.

Some over-the-counter H2 (acid) blockers--Pepcid/famotidine or Zantac/ranitidine -- are classified as pregnancy category B, which means they are "generally regarded as safe" during pregnancy. Avoid Axid (nizatidine) and omeprazole (Prilosec, a.k.a. the purple pill).

Of course, it is always recommended to speak to your doctor before taking any medications, especially when you are pregnant. It sounds as if you are being careful, which is good!

Approximately 70% of women have heartburn in the third trimester, and (luckily!) it usually resolves after delivery.

nothing else while your prego, it sucks i know!! drink as much water as you can it seemed to help a tiny bit. good luck i hope it stops for you!!

Crazy as it sounds, Vinegar , try about a shot while ur experiencing heart burn, it worked for me. And milk is known to work too..
Good Luck

let me tell you what the old timers used to say about a woman who suffers with heartburn through pregnancy, the child will have a lot of hair, also they say to eat saltine crackers.

Drink milk, that's what i use to do and it done wonders.

if your preg you cant take much, i do know that if you heat water as hot as you can swallow it, it does work. please do becareful and dont drink too much water.

Heartburn or pyrosis is indigestion, causing a burning feeling in the abdomen & oesophagus, and a flow of acid saliva into the mouth.
