Ok I am in gymnastics also so I know how it feels to have constent injuries on your wrists and ankles... and I have had something similar happen to me before too. You need to use the RICE method R= rest I= ice C= compression E= elevation. You also need to stop practices (and know how hard that feels to take a break because an injury it is not fun at all!) but you need to or at least take it really easy and just do bars for a while. If it hurts really bad you should possibly call your local pharmacy to rent churches until you get it checked out by a doctor. Also you should wrap it in an ace wrap or some sports tape like you would use for rips on your hands... or if you have any ankle braces from past injuries you could wear those. I do that all the time when I have pain in my ankles. But if it still hurts really bad you should go see a doctor or go to the ER. Most likely you didn't break anything you just bruised it. They may give you a splint or a brace to use for a few days but if it is broken for some reason then you will get a cast. I hope you feel better and I hope this helps!

put ice on it and take some sort of medicine

This is a question for a professional podiatrist...I suggest you check your yellow pages

You really need to try and see a doctor - you should probably have an x-ray done to see if there are any fractured bones or anything else going on in there. Bruising isn't normal and neither is that much pain.

RICE (rest, ice, compression try using an ace bandage it is not that great for support but it offers excellent for compression, elevation) Go see a dr. If there is a complete tear in a tendon or ligament it definately needs professional treatment. Trying to treat it on your own can lead to permanent damage that could affect you dancing and gymnastics.

this discoloration (ecymosis) resulted from accumulation of blood at the subcutaneous layers.
this bleeding resulted from soft tissue injury ( ligament tearing, muscle sprain..)
u should put ice on it to promote vasoconstriction and decrease bleeding as a result.
for now stop the physical activity, i.e lessons or what ever u do. get some pain killers.
see an orthopedic, u may need x- rays and bandages or even cast. to promote tissue healing by immobilization it for a wile.

OMG SAME HERE!!! See a podiatrist ASAP. I did, but he said NOT to use my crutches and now thank to him it hurts worse and I have to go get x rays tomarrow because I mgith have broke something! Hmmph...

Anyway see if you can get an appointment with a podiatrist.
Hope you feel beter!
