Because they kill the pain. Here's an interesting link about pain you might like

Not all pain killers are addictive. Please consult your doctor before taking any medicine.

It's just not because they kill pain, it depends on how long you've been taking them for. You start taking one pain killer a day for whatever your problem is (back, knees, ect). After awhile that one pill a day doesn't help so you start taking two a day, then three, four, five, ect. Because your body becomes immune to them. And before you know it, your hooked. You can't stop because your body is so use to having it in your system when you stop taking the pills your body freaks out.

percocet it's generic name is oxycodone it is in the narcotic family. Narcotics are very addictive. Narcotics are a dirivative from opium. Oxycodone is in a group of drugs called narcotic pain relievers. It is similar to codeine. If your really having a hard time you need to go back to your dr.

I think it depends upon the person.

I have been on Vicodin for 3 years and have no sign of addiction. But I just do not have that type of personality. I was able to give up smoking cold turkey.

I do vary the pain medication I take so I don't become accustomed to just one type. I don't want them to stop working. And I don't want to have to take anything stronger, since this works.
