Swollen Lymph nodes..Any advice to relieve the pain??!

Question: So every winter since I was 15 (i'm 22 now) either the right or the left lymph node in my neck gets very swollen but never both at the same time and its so painful to swallow or even talk it lasts for i'd say 2 weeks or so goes away then comes back a couple days later I just switched health insurance to my husbands therefore I choose to wait to go to the doc until my card gets in.. my question is does anyone have and advice of something I can do to dull the pain a little until I can get it checked out?? (I've tried hot towels on my neck or in the shower very hot water I have taken stuff that you spray that is supposed to numb it does not work. sip hot soup gargled peroxide) anyone have any helpful advice?? and is this something I should be concerned about??

Sunshine,

The problem is possibly caused when sleeping and breathing through your mouth. The winter's colder dryer air is not allowing you throat to stay moist therefore, drying out and causing irritation to the tissue.

Try gargeling warm salt-water. It is easier on the tissue inside your throat then one of those numbing sprays. Your body is made up of tissue that is part salt so your body will except the salt solution much easier then just about any other solution.

Not only that but the salt will help clean the affected area.

Don't worry about it. And by the way, I DON'T want to be around for your first natural child birth. No way, don't even want to be in the same county.

Try taking some vitamin C, it should help speed up your recovery. Its just your bodies way of cleaning out your system. In the mean time, you can try taking some Advil or something similar.
The heat doesn't work because its not a regular pain. It's from the build up of lymph, I believe, which needs to be cleared out.

yes it is something that you should be concerned about. you need to seek medical attention asap. You can also try drinking hot green tea with honey. Or any herbal tea that you might like with honey . just make sure that it is hot when you drink it.

try ibuprofen (Advil) it's helps with pain and swelling. hope it works if you've not already tried it.
