Have you quit smoking?!

Question: How did you do it? How long have you quit? How long did you smoke? How old were you when you started? I know lots of questions. I just need some inspiration. I have been smoking for 13 years. I started smoking when I was 10 and I just can't see myself not smoking. Please I want to hear other people that have

I smoked for 15 years and smoked about a pack a day when I quit. I tried 3 or 4 times to quit and finally did it for good 6 years ago. I used Wellbutrin (marketed as Zyban as a smoking cessation), but had failed with Wellbutrin the year before. While I think Wellbutrin did help, I believe I was finally ready to quit for no one else but me.

I was sick of being a hypocrite and telling my kids not to smoke. I was sick of paying 3.50 for a pack. I was sick of planning everything around my smoking. I was sick of my clothes and hair smelling like smoke and I was sick of being a slave to my habit.

When you decide you are going to quit, you need to get another habit to take it's place. I started going to the gym, cycling and running. I am proud of myself and feel great and know that I will NEVER smoke again, not even one.

Best of luck to you!

Yes I quit ... I smoked for 5 years. I must have tried to quit many times but I gained all the willpower I needed when my little girl was born. I was so taken back by smoking around her that I just had to quit. So... I quit cold turkey. I chewed gum and ate mint candies to help me get through the with-drawls. Fact is, if you can make it just one day without a smoke you are on your way to quitting. A major key to quitting is the same with those who want to quit anything.... Stay away from those who indulge in your habit. That will help you avoid much of the temptation.

I smoked from 18 to 23, pack+ a day. And I just quit. Just realized it was stupid and quit. Never wanted another one.

Thats tough. Your body is so used to it by now. I would join a support group.

Also, replace cigarettes with other things like twislers and carrotts. You have an oral fixation so this should help. Good luck =)

Yeah so i can play football i havnt felt better

I am in the process, down to about 8 cigs a day. I am trying it on my own, by weaning and it is going great so far. Hopefully in another few weeks I will be down to none.
I did quit cold turkey once when I found out I was pregnant, then afterwards stayed off of them for years, until I was going thru a divorce and started again, dumb me.

I've quit 3 times. I plan on doing it again. It's tough, but when I was successful, I worked out a lot and chewed a lot of gum. After a couple months, it's easy. The problem is having one for fun down the road. The next thing you know, you're a social smoker and a week later, you're buying packs.

If you want to stop smoking...just stop immediately..and find something else instead of tobacco..something like candy or anything..i was smoking for over 10 yrs, it did cost me a lot..a lot of money and my condition..after you stopped for a while you will feel better, and there's no need to start smoking again. save the money that you would use for buying tobacco, and after a while you can get yourself a nice present as a reward! good luck!!

Nope. I've tried but can't seem to kick it. Something always comes up to make me light up again. Good luck with your efforts!!!

My dad did it. He has quit of over 4 years. he started when he was about 15...and quit because EVERY TIME YOUR SMOKE IT KILLS 7 MINS. OFF YOUR LIFE.

Yes, I quit smoking about seven years ago when I decided to let my lungs recuperate from 20+ years of smoking. For me it wasn't much of an issue. But my daughter has a hard time quitting I think that you might need some help from your doctors. There is medical help out there.

I smoked for 14 years. Quitting was the hardest thing to do, but I feel so good now! I took something like Zyban to help me quit. It didn't take away my cravings completely, but made them bearable. You can do it and will love yourself for doing it!
