When a person rips out their toenail, how long does it take for this to heal? Ge!

Question: I wiped out on my bathroom tile this morning and in the ensuing carnage I ended up ripping out my middle toenail. At least I was awake after that.

I don't know if anyone has ever shown the courage I have today in continuing to work during the day and chat on the computer tonight with this painful condition. When you see the word courage in a dictionary, my picture will be next to it.

Ah, yes. I had a couch dropped on my big toe and totally flipped the nail off & I had to fly to Chicago the next day & give a speech. I was so afraid someone would step on my toe! Anyway, the bed itself will dry & heal in a few days to 7 days. The nail can take up to 6 months to grow back depending on how fast your nails grow. Keep the bed moist & supple with some sort of antibacterial ointment & avoid ripping dry dressings off that just re-open the nail plate. You may need to tape a soft pad over it to protect it from further harm. Ice will help swelling & pain

Eyes wide open!!! Too early in the am!

a week

if you are older the nail may not grow back. and if it does it may be deformed.make sure you soak your foot in betadyne ( about a squirt of it in warm water). Until the water cools.
p.s. my picture is next to the definition of twit.

LOL Yes you are the epitome of courage.. (when in reality you're really just feeding your addiction)

but seriously, I'm sorry for your pain. I have no idea how long it takes, all I know is how much it hurts.

Hang in there.. I feel for you :)

ouch!!!!
