I may have a fractured ankle?!

Question: A few months I was mildly tipsy and fell down the stairs in a rush. My ankle made several loud popping noises. LOUD popping noises. Since then it has been very sore. The pain is very sharp at times and at others it only hurts if it is turned to one side or the other in anyway. I didn't goto a doctor because its sort of a hassle and it didn't seem like that big of a deal but I'm realizing that it has probably been longer than it should to heal. Any ideas on what might have happened?

It is possible you could have slightly fractured something or dislocated something or torn a ligament. Many times a slight ankle fracture is dealt with by simply taking ibuprofen and taking it easy for a couple of weeks. If it is very sore to put weight on they may need to put you in a boot to imobilize the foot slightly and allow it to heal. If you are having serious tenderness, see a podiatrist.

if you're still able to walk on it its most likely not broken, but theres a good chance you've torn some ligaments. If it still hurts and its a few months after you should definitely be making a doctor appointment.

you didnt go to a doctor and you prob didnt rest it for long enough so it has caused more damage.
when things like this happen take the time to see a doctor because if you let it go for to long it can become permanete

You could have disrupted some ligaments or given yourself a stress fracture which could still be giving you problems. Without the proper support, the healing has not occurred as it should have. Without an x-ray or a visit to an orthopedic doctor, it would be very difficult to tell exactly what is wrong in your ankle. Hopefully, on the days that it is really bothering you, you are taking some pain medication to ease the discomfort.

You should still go to the doctor and have them xray it to see if you did any permanent damage. if you leave it alone it may get better very slowly but if you did any lasting damage, it will only get worse and that's not to mention when arthritis sets in.
