I had surgery and wl be off work for 4 weeks?!

As long as you have paid enough into the system you should qualify for SSID. That is the disability insurance. For their number go onto your states website and do a search for stated disability insurance. I've had to rely on disability insurance several times for various operations when I was out of work from 4 - 8 weeks, sometimes more. The miniumum amount of time you have to be off work is 10 days. Warning though.. you will only receive 75% of what you normally make in a week. And it goes by te last three quarters, so if you have been only working for 3 out of the 4 quarters you may make less. BUT something is always better than nothing. Good luck with the surgery!!
What type of work to do you do? Many companies have disability plans, short term and long term? Yes, there is social security, but I do not think you will get coverage for only 4 weeks. It is more of a long term solution. Talk to your supervisor or manager.
