OMG MY ANKLE? Plz answer?!

Question: Ok so I hurt my anke sooo bad 3 weeks ago and it hasnt gotten the slightest it better, its been getting worse! I can't walk on it, and I've been on crutches. I went to the podiatrist and he took x rays and said it was probably just a bad sprain, but he reccomended physical therapy. He said try to walk but with the crutches but I cant do it the pain is just too intense. It makes me cry it hurts so much. People say I should get a second opinion to see if it's a fracture. But there is noooo way I can tell my mom that she def. wont take me.

What do I do??
I really dont think its just a sprain I think it might be a fracture!!! If its a fracture I want to get help but then how do I tell my mom??

I'm at loss to understand why a podiatrist would xray your ankle????
It should be done at a hospital by xray specialists,so II suggest you see your Doctor as it may well be broken.
Just remember there are tons of tiny bones in your foot so it need careful examination don't leave it to long as it may worsen the injury

tell your mom and have a doc look at it. You mom will be happier if you tell her than if you keep it from her.

I'm sure your mother would take you to the doctor. You should try taking some pain killers, keeping your ankle elevated, and keep ice on it when you aren't moving around. Try walking on it a little bit, but if it really hurts that much then go to the doctor. Ankle fractures are some of the hardest things to heal, and they take forever. So better safe than sorry.

be like "ma my ankle hurts, i need a doctor"

get a second xray and opinion. sprains do hurt, and foot injuries are notorious for taking FOR-EV-ER and a day to heal because you are constantly using your feet. I hit the top of my foot once, because I was running and tripped over a piece of wood sticking out from a bush and it bruised and made the entire top of my foot swell, and it hurt to put shoes on, walk, etc, for over a month. eventually it healed.

are you taking a anti inflammatory to help reduce swelling?

Sweetie, I'm so sorry that you're suffering with your ankle. I know that we are supposed to listen and obey our doctors, but sometimes it's best to get a second opinion, especially if you're not getting better. Talk to your Mom, tell her that you feel like something is really wrong with your ankle, and ask her to please take you to another doctor.

I wish you well.

How did you injure it?

If it involved twisting or stretching, you may have torn the (achilles) tendon. This is the bit at the back, between the ankle and heel bones. Is that where you hurt?

go to your doctor, especially if its getting worse, the only cure is a cast on your foot, if you dont you will continue to be in pain, and if it heals its going to heal in the wrong position.and be crooked....
why cant you tell your mum??

Is it the ankle for sure or possibly your foot? If you have a small bone in your foot that is out of alignment, it feels like a bad ankle but is just below it. For years I had a bone in my foot that would slip out for a while and I couldn't walk for a week. Once the problem was isolated, the bone was realigned with a good massage and I've had no trouble for several years. Do go to a second doctor who specializes in foot care. Proper fitting shoes and orthotics will help prevent the problem from recurring.

ok .... first tell ur dad ...

If i were you i would go to the neareat hospital to the A&E and get a second opinion, you may need to have it strapped up.

First off, you are on the right track with a podiatrist, they specialize in the foot and ankle.

I just dealt with a grade III ankle sprain, it's not fun! It can take months for it to feel better.

I had torn two ligaments in my ankle (ATFL and CFL) I ended up having two operations on the ankle one was arthoscopic to clean up some of the scar tissue and just this past halloween had ligament reconstruction.

3 weeks post injury I would still expect pain, but it should be pain that isn't as bad. I would recommend going back to the doctor and request an MRI of the ankle that way they can see what damage has been done to the soft tissue (ie liagments, tendons, muscle) if that comes back that everything is intact, I would ask for a CT Scan which will give them a much better look at the bones in your foot/ankle.
Sprains believe it or not can end up being harder to deal with than just a simle fracture.
If I were you I would tell your mom, you don't want to make what could just require splinting for few weeks turn into something much harder to treat.
Hope that Helps!
Kristie

Just tell ure mom... it shouldn't be a problem if its hurting u th@ bad..

I think if you are really that concerned about it you should defiantly talk to your mom about it....Really though don't dwell on the pain. If you tell yourself It doesn't hurt, then it doesn't. That might sound crazy but its true!!
