Upper abdominal pain that reaches through to back-antacids help but this is scar!

Question: I had an emergency appendectomy 2 yrs ago so its not that. This is almost totally centered and radiates to my back. It gets quite severe and when I take 150mg of zantac-it helps.

I had the same problem for years always thought that I might have ulcers or gastritis, pain would stay for hours then disappear until I would get an episode again. Well let me tell you that I also had my appendix removed, and I thought that my pain was because of that and that it was going away after that. But I got the pains again until I could no loner hold it anymore and rather than take Zantac and antacids I did not take anything and went straight to the emergency room, I wanted to be seen while was having the pain. Well it turned out I had stones in my gallbladder. Also my cholesterol was always high and I ate pretty healthy. My suggestion to you is have your doctor perform an ultrasound or go to the ER. I had to get surgery to remove the gallbladder, my symptoms where the same as yours. The disease is called Colitis. I hope you check it out, for years I took zantac also and thought it was something else, but the pain radiating to the back its an indicator of gallstones. Good luck

Sweetie, this can be many things--from an adhesion to a perforated bowel.

Please see a doctor as soon as you can (preferably tonight). I am not one of those panic people that yelp :"go to the doctor" all the time. But I think this is truly something that should be checked out soon.

I had that pain a few times and it was caused by a Gallbladder attack.

It sounds like your gallbladder! Definitely get it checked out immediately! You will probably get an ultrasound of your abdomen and back... Been there done that! Good luck!

It could be bladder infection become a kidney infection. There are many organs in that region of the body--please get to a dr. asap to get checked over. It could be what I mentioned, or something else that is serious.
Take care.
