Under eye circles?!

Question: I am a 21 year old female with medium skin tone and I have DARK under eye circles. I have had them for many years. Its not caused by lack of sleep because I get plenty & because I have pretty much always had the circles. Well, I just quit smoking about a week or so ago (smoked for 7 or 8 years) and quit drinking caffeine & soda completely and now only drinking water (I use to drink only soda since I was very young & NEVER water). So my question is, do you think quitting those 2 will help them lighten up any? Also any tips and suggestions will help alot! Thank you

I had the dark circle problem persistently for many years. I noticed nothing really helped until I tried Neutrogena's Copper eye cream. You may have seen it advertised. I guess its only natural that the copper has a bit of a brightening effect on your skin. You might want to increase your intake of green leafy vegetables. These are high in Vitamin K, and lack thereof is known to promote dark circles..maybe a little iron too but with extreme caution as it can be toxic in high quantities. The most common cause is very simple. Our skin under our eyes is very thin, and this area is quite vascular. Blood however tends to SETTLE in this area..therefore creating a DARK appearance. Its highly common and is more prevalent as we age. But these little tips might help. The copper cream used daily ended my dark circles. To this day I still rarely experience this problem. Research it if you think you need more help.

It could be from allergies. That's what causes mine. They're stubborn and you may just have to live with it.

do any of you family members suffer from under eye circles? it could be hereditary-i know mine are

I have the same problem. I read that it has something to do with the blood vessels under the eye and they are just how they are. But in recent years I have been using creams for reducing bags or wrinkles and that seems to work well. I did not have success with stuff made for under eye bags though. Currently I am using Estee Lauder's advance night repair right before I put my makeup on and that helps. Tanning also reduces the appearance but then again you are risking your skin health also.
