Good things to do for insomnia?!

Question: I am constantly tired, but I tend to go about four days without sleeping until I finally crash. Lately, I've been trying to sleep every night; got about two hours three days ago, 6 minutes two days ago, and an hour and a half last night. I don't nap during the day; this is all I sleep. I'm allergic to most medication. When I am up, I try watching TV or reading a story or making some hot milk. Generally I lie in bed in the pitch dark with my eyes closed. I can't stop thinking about things (for some reason, I solve very complex math problems in my head when I am half-awake) and sleeping does make me feel very very guilty. Still, I don't think I can keep this up. What is a good way without drugs that I can get on a normal human sleep schedule?

Well, watching TV when you're trying to get to sleep won't do you any good - apparently it stimulates the brain so you're buzzing with thoughts. Reading is good though, but make sure it's something kind of boring, not a thriller or an action story.

Also, don't have anything caffeine or alcohol based before you go to bed, and don't eat too much either. Also try to go to bed at the same time every night, and get up at the same time every morning, so you train your body to know when to sleep. Listening to really gentle music helps my brother sleep, even though he's a really bad sleeper, so you could try that ..?

Another thing I heard is good is making sure you aren't too stressed, hot, cold, or have too much too think about. Before you attempt sleep, think about everything that's stressing you or bothering you, and think about what you're going to do about them TOMMOROW, not now, and then just visualise letting the thoughts go. You could try meditating too. You could try tensing all of you're muscles one by one and then relaxing them, because it makes you feel physically exhausted, which could help.

Good luck, if this doesn't work, and no one's else advice does either, then yeah, go see your doctor. Hope this helped!

You should talk with your doctor.. it could be stress but im not sure.. but talk to your doctor. good luck
