I am on day 22 and it has not stopped yet. I don't think it every completly goes away but it has gotten less each week.

Depends, how long and how much did you smoke. Mine only stopped after about 3years, and even now 10 years later I still some times have a crave for a smoke. You call it HELL.

Never

In my experience, it seems like the physical cravings stopped after about 7-10 days. The rest is all about the habit.

In other words, if you take some nicotine replacement routine for about 10 days (or just tough it out), the physical withdrawl symptoms should be gone. Then, you have to try to keep away from the trigger points that make you want to smoke. For me, that meant changing how I spent my time. I had to change my patterns so that I ate at different times and in different places. I had to be aware that when I was with certain people, I wanted to smoke. I knew that things like coffee or beer would make me want to smoke. Those are the trigger points that I had to avoid.

Good luck, and you do have to seriously want to stop if you are going to be able to do it.
