Question: My husband and I are going to be giving up our bedroom until we find another house (4-5 bedroom now we have a 3bdr) that we like.She is coming from a nursing home.Her social worker has to approve our house before so.She has alot of trouble getting around.How should I prepare for the social worker's evaluation and my grandmother coming to stay with us?Even with 3 young girls, I keep my house generally clean.

What the Social Worker is going to look at , is the bathroom and how easy will it be for her to use, do you have safety bars? . She may need a raiser for the commode and she will see how handicap accessible the home is. Does she use a walker? Do you have a lot of stairs. Most Nursing homes have wide door and all the rooms are on one floor. The Social Worker may go over fiance for meds. and needs also. So don't worry and the little girls will be wonderful for grandma.They have extra time and will be so good for her.It may be a adjustment for all. So you have my best regards.
