I think my podiatrist is wrong and I think IM right?!
Question: I hurt my ankle sooo bad 3 weeks ago and I went to a podiatrist on Monday and he said it was just a sprain and to continue with the crutches. He also reccomended physical therapy. I made an appointment for it but I think he is wrong. It's been getting much worse and I know for a fact it's not supposed to do that!!! I have been using the crutche for 2 weeks and a half and I still cant walk! The pain is excruciating. It hurts to move it all. Sometimes the pain is so excruciating I cry.
I think it's broken or a fracture.
I told my mom we should go to an ortropedist or to urgent care or soemthing, and I think she's considering it.
I know a podiatrist has to go to school too but that doesnt mean they'll never make a mistake!
Is it possible he's wrong (I THINK SO)??

It should not be getting worse after two and a half weeks of non weight bearing. Even if your original xrays were negative a small nondisplaced linear fracture may have been overlooked. A physician giving a second opinion on your problem very well should consider an MRI to define the problem if repeat xrays continue to be negative.
Did he take x-rays? I wouldnt believ what he says if he didnt. A good doctor confirms and backs up their diagnosis with evidence. A good doctor wouldnt reccomend PT on a really sore ankle without first making sure it wasnt broken somewhere. If no x-rays were taken then see a different doctor!
You should see another doctor.
