Owww! Please help with this....?!

Question: My daughter went ice skating on Sunday. She forgot to wear high socks so the skate rubbed aganist her, making a large blister around 1 inch (give or take some) on her ankle. She has just been putting a damp cloth on it to wipe it off at night. Is their anything else? I was thinking if I could cut a little piece off an ace bandage and wrap it loosley so no dirt gets into it.

I have done this over and over again due to the fact that my one foot is just a little bit bigger than the other one and shoes are hard to fit. Cover it during the day with a big bandaid so that the sock slides over it and the shoe does not rub her foot, or better yet, have her wear clogs or backless shoes. Clean it when she gets home from school and air it out while she does her homework and relaxes. Put antibiotic ointment back on it and cover it for the night so that it can get the benefit of the ointment overnight.

Dry protective dressing. try not to burst it.

Any old generic antibiotic ointment will do. But DON'T put ace bandage, or a bandaid on it, it needs the air to heal.

Coat it with an antibiotic ointment, then bandage it. If its open, kods can get dirt onto it easily and you don't want an infection. I always soak foot and ankel injuries in warm water with Epsom Salts. It draws infection and dirt out.

First thing is to wash with warm soapy water, then rinse with warm water. Put some antibiotic cream on the affected area and cover with gauze. You will need to leave it clean and dry some also, just for it to dry out a little. If she isn't going anywhere, just wash as described above, then rinse, dry and leave uncovered. Only cover it with the cream and gauze if your going somewhere. Keep an eye on it. If it discreets a yellowish or greenish puss, it is getting infected, and should see a doctor, but if no puss, she will be fine with the cream and gauze.

You can make alittle pin size hole just to drain it but leave the dead skin on just to protect the sore undernieth it. If the dead skin does peel off it could hurt so just put neosporin on it because it will take the pain and the itch away. I would apply the cream before bed or as needed and a band aid to reduse the friction that could irritate the sore.

Blisters can still be open if you allowed the top layer of skin to come off.
With most blisters you want to give it air to dry.
However, if the blister is open, you need to keep it covered during activity. You do NOT want it to get infected. (super painful) But it still needs time to heal in open air. The best way to do this is put a clean bandage on it in the morning. Then let it air while you sleep. Clean it out the next morning and continue.

Gauze pad and medical tape...there's nothing it won't fix
