I quit on September 29th, 2003 using the stop smoking program the Mormon missionaries have, they do not pressure you to join their church. It was a series of brain rewiring things like brushing your teeth after you eat, washing out your mouth with Cinnamon mouthwash, taking vitamin C, etc.

Talk to your doctor and see if he can prescribe you something.

chewing gum is a good alternative when stressed out.

This is a simple answer but it worked for me. If you want to quit smoking, it's actually very easy, don't buy them, don't bum them. The carvings do go away, your sleep patterns do regulate, everything will eventually get better. But, as for a little help, I found it best to chew on a straw of coffee stirrer when having a particularly bad craving.

Try quitting with someone. Is there anyone you know that wants to stop. Its good to spur each other on.

Just think about all the money you are spending on buying them. That money you are spending on smokes, you can be saving for yourself. Also, think about your life and your health. Do you like caughing and sounding like you are caughing up a lung. Do you want to be out of breath doing normal stuff.

doctor recommends the best way is to try to exercise more often, eat a healthy diet, and find a new habit running chewing gum, playing video games ect.

reverse psychology on yourself, tell yourself you will never ever quit, then you'll trick yourself into quiting

If you are in the U.K, the NHS support groups are the best way, they help you prepare psychologically as well as give you free aids to quit. There is a support structure too.
