Arms in pain. help?!


Question: i was lifting weights for a long time and i know you don't really build muscle unless it hurts but its been hurting for 2 days....i cnt even strech them out at all without feeling intense sore pain....did i pull something?

You may have strained a muscle. You should really ice it and give them a break so you allow the muscle to heal. Do some gentle stretching and only go as far as you are comfortable. Eventually you will be able to do this with full ROM (range of motion). And you don't have to be in pain to build muscle...this is a misconception. When you return to lifting remember this and ease back into it so you avoid re-injuring. Pay attention to your form a lot of people become injured from improper form.

You can do all the guessing you want. Only a doctor has the experience to ask you the right questions such as the actual excercise you were doind, how much weight normaly, how much weight this time, when, other items that could be important. There are a number of things that could have happened. Streched muscly, torn muscle, torn rotator cuff, sprain, strain etc., ect.
You can wait until it hurts even ,more, or you can go to the doctor now and have Xrays, MRI or what ever he thinks is needed to get on the recovery path. The choice is yours.pp
