Medical bill rip off?!

Question: I was uninsured and had to go an emergency room. I have paid down most of these bills but still owe close to $1500. I received another bill last night and was charged for something I didn't have. I called this morning and they said they "wrote that off" and now charging me for something else. They are unwilling to put this in writing. I have put my concerns in writing on multiple ocassions. Today I told them I was having my records retrieved to review and had best not find anything documented that wasn't done.
Who can I turn to besides a lawyer? It's only $47 on one bill but I feel they R playing games with me...
Thanks

call your state attorney general's office, then call the Joint Commision on the Accreditation of Hospitals, and tell them your story and ge their feedback, then call the hospital back, inform them that you have a legal right to an itemized and specific billing on your request, that if they don't send you one, and one that is accurate, you will report them to the state attorney general's office, with whom you have already spoken. That should shake them up enough to get them to treat you approriately.

I am sorry to hear this happened to you. I wish I would have known you before you attending the hospital.. I hope you are physically feeling better even though the stress is still there from when you were there, with these bills... Anyways... even if you are insured now or not, I can help you... here's my suggestion:
