make sure you get to your doctor and plead to have them do an MRI on your back. I had the same problem for two years to finally get an MRI and find out I had lumbar stenosis and was on the verge of waist down paralysis-surgery was one week later. Definitely not something to mess with-get it checked out!

I have heard several people with back injuries say their doctors recommended walking to help back pain. This helps build up the muscles in your back. Just like you said it felt better after walking. I would start finding time each day to take a walk.

I have had the same problem. I went to the doctors and they did a few tests and they think it is endometriosis (butchered that word), but if it is happening every morning and slowly getting worse it could be your kidneys.

You really need to get this medically checked out.... I know you maybe looking for alternatives but you could be storing-up trouble for your health in the long run. I suggest that you see your doctor and explain the problem. You will need some diagnostic tests such as x-rays and an MRI Scan of the vertebrae. It maybe a good idea to ask your GP to refer you to an specialist such as a neurosurgeon for some advice and also to a pain clinic for analgesia. As a short-term goal you will need some anti-inflammatory analgesia such as voltarol or brufen with another pain-killer like Tramadol. Once you go then you can start the ball rolling.

rest it and don't lift heavy things.
