What is the best way to bring down swelling???!

Question: anything other than ice???

Answers: anything other than ice???

Well, the traditional first aid for a swollen limb (not torso!) is cooling and compression. Cooling for no more than 20 minutes at a time and allow the skin to return to normal temperature before reapplication.

Compression from an ace bandage can help, but not so tight as to restrict circulation.

After a day or so, heat can be applied to help healing. This will help the swelling, too, but long term rather than short. Apply heat just like you would apply cold, for no more than about 20 minutes at a time and allow skin to return to normal temperature between applications.

Avoid using aspirin. That can make internal bleeding, thus swelling, worse.

If swelling persists for more than a couple of days you should schedule a visit with your Doctor, anyway!

Advil or any other type of over the counter painkiller type things usually work

Not sure where you are having the swelling... In nursing school we were taught the acronym "RICE" to help with managing swelling problems:
Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation

Depending upon what you have that is swelling, elevation is the key ... elevate the extremity above heart level, i.e. if its your knee or ankle that is swelling, lay flat and prop your foot so that it is above heart level
