Make a decision and go COLD TURKEY.

Do you want to be healthy or NOT?

Everyone will quit smoking sooner or later, some will have a choice about it.

Don't wait to long to choose a good life.

the patches

If you think you can do it then you probably can... or something like that :s

the quitlines, thinking about your family and what they would do if you weren't there, patches, gum, thinking of the consequences it will have on your body.

i quit cold turkey
it was hard
but just keep busy
like with hobbies
also keep a water bottle near by
or carrot sticks
so when u get that urge take a drink or eat a carrot

why quitting?? smoking is a good thing, makes you feel relaxed, gives you style... hahaha
anyway, if you are sure bout quitting, you should chew nicotine gum, it really works

stop buying them

Use the patch system, and avoid the places where you used to smoke (outside during break, club etc) Not for ever, but just until you feel confident enough to avoid the temptation. It would also help to have a friend quit with you to help each other stay on track.

Its easy if you take up another action like sunflower seeds or chewing gum. If you have regular times you smoke, like during a work break, try switching it with drinking something like a soda instead or have a candy bar. This is not a good habit to get into, just something to help you through the first week.

Use patches, that was the only thing that worked for me. I cut down my own way. The first week I allowed myself 3 cigarettes a day - one on my way to work, one on my way home and one after dinner, and none on the weekend. The second week I was going to cut the one after dinner out. I didn't get that far! The Monday I started my 2 a day regime I lit the one up on my way to work and tossed it after about 2 puffs. I'm now at one year and counting. I also avoided going to bars for about a month. It helped a lot that it was freezing balls out when I quit too!

Also, go to quitnet.com, you can post questions and rant about not smoking to others trying to quit. Great site!

I found that adding more daily exercise as well as drinking lots of water and including more fresh fruits and vegetables in my diet helped and made me appreciate the benefits of not smoking. I also took Zyban, which seemed to diminsh my desire to smoke.
Congratulations on quitting!

With the help of a great mindset I was able to completely kick the habit by the computation of what cigarettes costs me annually and with those nicotine lozenges. I chewed on one 4mg lozenge with every craving. Only drawback is that the lozenges numbed my throat.

Approach a hospital, they know procedures and there are even clubs helping you do that.Search your local area

i've heard that chewing gum can help with nicotene cravings! also it's WAY healthier and give you minty fresh breath! always a plus, right?

keeping urself busy may also help! like, find stuff to do with friends or family, or tackle weekend projects, u know?

maybe get some of ur friends or family members to keep u on track, and make sure you don't have any nicotene exposure

also, just tell yourself that your doing this for your own good, think of it as starting a new, happier, healthier chapter of your life! i think it's great that your quitting and i know you'll find the strength in yourself to quit

good luck!!!

Personally , I have had better results when I stop completely . However , I have stopped for no longer than a year and back I go into the habit ; it is truly the single most addictive drug in the world .
I hope you have better luck ; good luck !

my mom used to smoke. When she used to smoke, she was more calmer and nicer. When she stopped her smoking, she started yelling and all that.

She stopped by chewing gum whenever she had the desire. She would eat food to replace the smoking habit and that's why she gained a lot of weight.

Anyways at the end, think about all the money your going to be saving instead of buying that smoke

Hypnosis and relaxation tapes helped greatly.
Good luck!
