Sometimes these things come up out of my throat?!
Question: Sometimes, when I'm just sitting around, I will feel something just slowly surface from the back of my throat into my mouth. It almost looks like a little piece of a crushed nut or something, and its white/yellow in color. It doesnt happen very often, just once in a blue moon. I smashed it in between my fingers once and smelled it, and it smelled HORRIBLE. Anyone else get this? or know what it is?

My husband and I both have experienced this. My dentist said it was most likely a build up of food particles that lodged in the crevices in the back of our throat or tonsils. It usually happens though when we are fighting allergies or a cold. He said the swelling in our throats made it easier for the food to lodge in there. Not sure if this is true or not, but it is what I've been told. And it really doesn't happen very often.
I had my tonsils removed for this very reason. My doctor called it "tonsil cheese". When you swallow your food, it gets lodged in the crevices in your tonsils. The crevices are usually caused from infections (sore throat or strept throat) over the years. I was told there is no cure other than get your tonsils removed which I did. No more "tonsil cheese"!
Yes, i've had this similar problem, but it stopped for me. I dont think its anything serious, but if youre concerned, then go to your dentist and go talk to him/her.
