I don't poop regularly?!

Question: This is difficult for me to say, so don't crucify me!! Everyone poops, so don't say I'm disgusting or something.

I poop like once a week, and...it's a lot. I'm tired of this! I've tried prunes, water, Colon Essentials(not laxatives) and nothing seems to work. My father has the same problem. How can I be regular?

well this may be your regular. if you dont have hard stools or painful defecation, they its not constipation and does not need to be fixed. its just for you an inconvenience to get rid of so much at a time. everyone has their own pattern, from many times a day to once very few days.
if it is constipation, then try miralax 17g daily, make sure you stay away from constipating foods like too much milk and increase your fiber and water intake.

Benefiber would be good. It's a mild laxitive that works slowly and keeps you regular without cramping. You can get it at the grocery/ pharmacy and mix it into your food or drinks. Also, salads are good.

Have you tried increasing your fiber intake? Try something like Benefiber or Metamucil.

Everybody is different and maybe this is simply a normal rhythm for your body. Laxatives lose effectiveness so don't bother. Prunes have a natural chemical laxative in them and their juice. Try increasing your dietary fiber to the max--bran cereal, whole grain bread, veggies, fruits. Read labels at the market for fiber content. You can buy metamucil otc at Osco as a supplement. If you are over 55 your are entitled to a screening colonoscopy. If all else fails you may have to live with it and as long as your bowels don't lock up or become impacted this may be normal for you.

most often this is because you don't take in enough fiber, or enough water. the body needs two liters of water daily to function efficiently.
