I've had contacts for about 25 years. When i first got them, I had to get used to them. But they never did hurt. It was more that when I first wore them for a few hours, my eyes became irritated. The eye doctor will tell you to only wear tem for a short time at first until your eyes adjust.
It didn't take very long to get used to them. I can't even feel them now, and I love them. I can see better with them than I can glasses.

after a while you'll be relaxed and won't notice they are in your eye
ok when the doctor first puts them in your eyes they will hurt a lot! i hurts very very little when you put them in your eyes sometimes and i forget sometimes that i even have them in it takes a few days to get used to them but afterword they are way better than glasses they take a little getting used to them but dont give up too soon!!
It's different for everyone. Some people find them uncomfortable and painful and others the opposite. And also it depends on the brand sometimes I guess. I wear contacts sometimes,they feel alright. But sometimes after a few hours they might feel a little dry. But overall they're comfortable for me but I can still feel them enough to know I'm wearing them. So if you wanna try contacts, just try them out and see if they're good for you, as long as your eye doctor says its alright. =]
