Hi! I had the exact same thing! Except mine wasn't as bad. It only took 4 days to heal but still hurts when turning. My doctor gave me pain meds but my mum did the job! She rubbed tiger balm on the area and did several massages. I suggest you should go to a proffesional therapist because my mum studied this in university. Anyways, it went away. Just after leaning your neck to the side that doesn't hurt you become TOO comfortable that it will stay like that. I mean not FOREVER but you will need to do excersizes. You need another person to do this for you! The person should put they hands on your head and try moving it to the correct position or as far as you can do. When it hurts tell the person to stop.
Do that every day.
GET WELL SOON!

I had the same thing . Have you tried using heat, a wheat bag for example that you heat up in the microwave(you can buy them at most chemists). The heat helps the spasm relax. I was also prescribed Valium in a small dose as it can be used as a muscle relaxant and that helped as mine was really bad and I couldn't sleep. The gel my GP said is pointless...go back if it doesn't ease and get another opinion.
