Why do my fingers down to the first joint look blue and are always cold?!

Question: This has only happened over the last 9 months or so.

Answers: This has only happened over the last 9 months or so.

You should probably see a doctor as a matter of priority. It may just be cold where you are, but if it is also happening indoors, then the problem may be serious Poor circulation can lead to heart disease. It may also indicate the presence of mature onset diabetes, which is uncontrolled, and it is really something that only a doctor can sort out for you. I would definitely not be trying any home remedies until you know what you are dealing with. THe link below may help you understand the range of possibilities and also provide a checklist for any additional symptoms you may not have realised might be connected.

Maybe poor circulation of a condition known as Reynaud's Syndrome :http://healthlink.mcw.edu/article/926055...

Of course, see your doctor for a proper diagnoses.

Could be Raynaud's Disease I had a friend who had it.
You can read about it here:http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/raynaud...

This is a question you should ask your doctor.

There are a variety of circulatory disorders that could cause it (one has already been mentioned in other posts here). Even thyroid problems could be a culprit. Additionally, diabetes can cause hands and feet to be cold and/or numb (diabetic neuropathy).

You really need to see a doctor to determine the cause.

Bad circulation or mild Raynauds Disease...Others have provided some linksfor you to check up on. When I lost a lot of weight and wasn't eating much I had continual cold hands and occasionally, especially during the winter months the tip of my finger, down to the first joint would turn completely white and numb.
