Bad lower right abdominal pain after barium swallow?!

Question: a week and a half ago, i was involved in an accident that resulted in broken ribs and a cracked sternum, but no visible organ damage on CT. i've been vomiting pretty violently absolutely anything that crosses my lips since then (have already been treated for dehydration), so this morning i had a barium swallow, for which i haven't been given the results yet.

i now have bad (not severe, but bad) pain in my lower right abdomen. curling up (or knees to chest) seems to relieve it some, but taking a deep breath, straightening out, or standing up are very painful.

is this just a result of the barium causing constipation and that kind of stuff? could the barium have done something else? is it possible the pain's unrelated to the barium and just showed up on the same day?

thanks so much...

Call your doctor immediately and let him know you now have a fever and tell him you just do not feel good..

I think you need to be in the hospital, you could still be dehydrated and i think you could be reacting to the barium
When to Seek Medical Care
Call your doctor if you have any unusual problems after the barium swallow test, such as vomiting, bleeding, pain, or trouble breathing. If you do not have a bowel movement in 2-3 days after the test, you should also call or see your doctor.

You should go to the hospital's emergency department if you have severe pain, difficulty breathing, constant vomiting, chest pain, or any other symptoms that you think might be an emergency
