Inappropriate comments by Dr.???!
Question: My mother's Dr. called her yesterday. My father answered the phone and then handed it over to mom. The first thing the Dr. asked my Mom was "who was that?". My mom answered "my husband". The Dr. then asked "is he crazy?". My mom was so shocked with the question that she just said "uh, no".
WTH??? First of all, who is he to ask who is answering the phone and second of all, who is he to ask if my father is crazy??? I am very put off by this and so is mom but she doesn't want to say anything. I think she should let the Dr. know that this was inappropriate and change Dr. What do you think?

I agree with you. You should first tell your mom that she should talk to the doctor and if he doesn't understand then change him. Get a different doctor. If she doesn't want to do that, then you could just ignore it i guess.

first of all, dr.s rarely call back people, its usually the nurse. second, why would a dr. say these things? i think there is more going on here than you know. dont worry about it, it has nothing to do with you. maybe it wasnt a dr. and your mom was hiding who it was. maybe you understood wrong thinking it was a dr.
If his behavior you found to be less than professional then tell HIM he is the one YOU pay not the other way around !! Now I'm not even coming close to suggestioning that someone call up & go off . I am however suggesting your mom let him know how she feels on this . She & her insurance company are the payor he is the payee !! Don't let their ego s brow beat anyone down we all deserve to be treated with respect !!!

First off, you don't know what the doctor and your father were talking about, so you can't make the assumption that the doctor randomly accused your father of being crazy. For all you know, your father could of said something inappropriate to him in the first place, learn some background information before getting so appalled.
I think you need to find out exactly what was said between your father and the doctor to get a better idea of the situation. Was the doc joking when he said this or had your dad said something that was inappropriate?
However, if there is nothing, I would put a complaint in to the practice head about what happened and how appalled your mother was at the doctor's tone. Also, then consider changing doctors to someone more professional.
