Help me! Tiny shard of glass in my foot!?!

Question: This morning I must have stepped on some broken glass because it hurt and earlier this week I broke a dish and thought I swept up all the glass. After I got out the shower I looked at my foot because it still hurt and there was a little cut on it. I cant see the shard of glass but it hurts like there is something in it. How can I get it out? Help!

This has happened to me before too. A friend (who is a nurse) helped to get out the glass. She used a needle to remove some of the skin and then used tweezers to get the glass out.

See a doctor asap to avoid infection.

Go to the ER. Do not try to do it yourself because you will either make it worse or get it infected.

use a needle sweety, and dig at it until you get it out.

YOU DON'T NEED TO GO TO THE DOCTOR!! that's ridiculous. It's not going to get infected. I have had so many HUGE cuts on my feet, and I walk around barefoot and get tons of dirt etc in the cuts, and have never had ONE get infected. You'll be fine. It's a tiny shard of glass. Find a needle, and gently prod it out. Cover it with a band-aid when you're done, if it makes you feel better, but really, you don't have to go to the doctor just for that. Don't waste your money.

soak it a bit then try a pin or tweezer- it will hurt until you get it out- then put some peroxide or something on it

The only way to get it out is to go to the hospital. I had this happen early last year, except with a piece of stick. It can get infected. I'd talk to your mom right away.

It will sting a little, but I've safely removed small shards of glass from the soles of my feet by pinching either side of it to expose a small piece of the glass and then melting candle wax over it...let it dry for a few minutes to make sure it's cold and firm (don't let go of the pinch the entire time either because you need that little piece of glass to make contact with the drying wax) and then peel the wax off. It works for me!

Get a tweezers, make sure it's well clean and sterilized. Just grit your teeth, dig it out and then put antibiotics on it, wrap it up in a bandage and go in to your gp to take care of any chance of infection.

Don't worry too much, just take care of it. Glass happens :P
