Help with Neck Problems?!

Question: I had a fall the other day, I was trying to change an outside light bulb, and fell of a stool. I fell backwards onto gravel and brick path. I landed on my back and my head hit the gravel, not hard though almost like minor whiplash. I was ok afterwards, just a little shaken. Im now having bad neck pains, and headaches down one side of my head. I can't seem to get into a comfortable position when trying to sleep. Any ideas on what to do to help with the pain and stiffness. Im wondering if I should have gone to A & E.

There is no doubt in my mind that you should have gone to casualty, so get down there asap. I had an injury many years ago where I slipped down some steps on an escalator. At the time I had a 'sore' bottom and a stiff neck but I thought I'd be OK, I was more embarrassed than anything. The problems started about 3 days later. I had headaches and stiffness around my shoulders and neck and I couldn't sit down without a pillow underneath me. I went to A&E and they x-rayed my spine and discovered that I had fractured a bone in my neck and one in the base of my spine. This has resulted in long term problems with my back. Go to the A&E dep't now.

hi its getting worse at least take your self to the clinic for me please love u baby

I see you have already been to A&E. Whiplash type injuries can be pretty painful and soft tissue damage takes a while to heal. You may have discomfort for a while longer but see your doctor again for stronger pain relief if you need to. Take care.
