What is the adverse effect of a dislocated arm without proper treatment?!

Question: I simply relocated it back to place, no sling, no medicine , no visits to the doc. Now, it feels sore at times. But is that the end? How serious could things turn out or?

simple tissues holding ur arm are torn and need time to heal....resting arm is important for this reason....

if u dont give rest for at least 3 wks tissues are damaged and even the simplest force would dislocate it again.....

meaning dislocations all the time which would need operations to correct it........

Prereduction and postreduction radiographs are recommended....there maybe fractures in area ....

also any numbness/ inability to move fingers raise arm sideways implies nerve injury....

if u are in sports sometimes docs even do operations but i think u are not a sportsperson........

Approximately 90% of patients younger than 20 years at the time of the initial dislocation have a recurrence;

see source to know more its in end of page......

I've worked in an ER and if a patient came in w/ a dislocated arm, shoulder , etc. they would be seen immediately. The reason for this is that while the joint is out of place, it could be impinging a nerve or blood vessels and cause permanent damage. Soreness after putting things back in place is to be expected. You probably should follow up w/ an orthopedic doc to find out why it's happening if it happened more than once.

Permanent joint damage. It could be very serious
