Rabies ? Please don't laugh- I'm really worried?!

Question: Ok, so I was outside collecting walnuts (long story- don't ask!) and I think I must have started to take a stash that belonged to this grumpy squirrel that had been watching me for a few minutes and as soon as I turned around, it came at me, run up my pants & shirt, bit me on the neck and then jumped off my shoulder and scampered off into the woods.

It bled some and I thought it was no big deal, but now I'm kind of sick & dizzy and my jaw is like all tight and I can't swallow.

Am I at risk for rabies ? I'm freaking out here and I know I should see a doctor, but I can't afford it. Should I be concerned or is this normal after being bitten by a squirrel ? It wasn't foaming or nothing, but it sure was fast and mad.

Anyone have any thoughts ? Is there anything I can take ? I have some old antibiotics in the bathroom because I used to get ear infections all the time. Will this prevent the rabies ? I need answers FAST!

Thanks and have a nice day

Rodent/Squirrels rarely carry rabies, but you should go to the doctor as you should get a tetnus shot and antibiotics at the very least. Rabies is a virus and is deadly. It goes to the brain and kills from there. The closer the bite is to the brain the faster it can effect and kill you. Go to the ER.

Go to the Doctor ASAP! That is the start of Rabies those are the first syptoms. I'm not going to give you a long answer just trust me and Go! RAbies can kill you!

Get to the ER!

The feelings you are having may be due to anxiety over the bite. But any time you get bit by a wild animal you need to get to the ER.

YOU better go to the emergency room tonight
squirrels and raccoons are nothing to mess with
and if your neck and jaw are tight and swollen you could be suffocated to death by morning

GET to the ER asap call an ambulance if you don't have somebody to take you!!!

never mess with those bastards!
they attack crazy!
once 2 were chasing me cause i was throwing rocks at them

I would be concerned. Not because of your symptoms, they are from fear. The concern is that the squirrel even came near you. They usually run. I would go to the ER.
The antibiotics you have will not help. They are meant for bacteria. Rabies is caused by a virus and these antibiotics will not help.

I really think you should see a doctor. No you wont go insane, you could die from rabies though.

THIS ONE TIME MY SISTER GOT BIT BY A MOOSE, NO REALLY SHE WAS CARVING HER INITIALS IN A TREE WITH A SHARPENED TOOTH BRUSH.............. MOOSE BITES ARE QUITE NASTY.

Get to the ER asap! This is very serious!

You could be near the brink of madness.

Don't wait for another answer! Just go!

I think the best thing to do is to see a doctor, as long as I know if the squirrel get rabies, it will die in a few days, if it is still a live, I can tell you for sure that you are at risk of rabies.

You should go to the hospital immediately! I don't know how long ago you were bitten but there is only a certain period of time in which you can get the preventative shots. Rabies is fatal and I'm sure saving your life is worth the money!

go see a doctor

I think most animal bites should be checked out. With that said, squirrels are not known for carrying rabies.

you probaly do have it and if you starting to behave aggressive, cant or feel like yuor jaw is paralyzed and if you lose your appeitite you then do have it and oyu have to take it or youll die in about 2 weeks. but it is probaly something else i am not sure i tried helping

I don't think so the only animals got rabies are the caneboros that eat meat like foxes and wolves. In other countries some dogs got a rabies but as you mentioned the squirrel well, squirrel eat only a nuts. Just clean the scrathes of antiseptic cream.
