Answers: what worked for you?

This is what worked for me.
March 17 2007 chest pains.
March 18 stress test and a barrage of ex-rays.
March 19 scheduled for a triple by pass. Post poned.
March 21 had operation- that night lungs failed when taken off of ventilator- re ventilated.
March 21 to 24 lade flat on my back drugged out of my mined.
Mar 26 both lungs collapsed tubes put in to both sides of my chest.
Mar 26 to April 5 lied on my back.
April 6 tubes removed.
April 7 told I Had heart decease and copd.
April 8 sent home.
April 9 to may 29 sat at home unable to return to work.
Jan 08 Still under the care of 4 different Dr's and taking 4 different meds.
Oh did I say I'm only 44.

Thankfully, when I made the decision to quit, I just quit. No patch, pills, hypnosis. I knew that with each cigarette I was cutting short my life & risking serious disease.
Your will is the most powerful combatant to smoking.
And a prayer or three wouldn't hurt either.
Best of luck.

i think the best way is to
first: reduce the amount of cigarettes
for e.g. if you smoke 20 a day, then try to smoke 15
then do that for like a month
than reduce by another 5 and so on n so on!!!

Or: get the patch and reduce the cigarette or use the chewing gum

Or if you have will power, you can do what my cousin did and that was quit cold turkey n it worked for him.
if u want to do that then throw all your cigarettes away, if youre friends smoke, tell them to not smoke near you or walk away until theyve finished.

but going cold turkey is quite hard, so try one of the other solutions!!!

Good Luck!!!

Had to due to middle son having a stroke I had smoked for over thirty years total. Just used will power, but trying not to substitute food for ciggies??

Perhaps you should join a Quit Smoking Clinic.
