Question: Is there any medical evidence that having cold beverages (water, beer, pop, etc.) makes the common cold any worse?

Answers: Is there any medical evidence that having cold beverages (water, beer, pop, etc.) makes the common cold any worse?

No evidence, other than common sense. It FEELS better to drink something warm when you have a sore throat. And don't forget, one of your bodies MAIN defenses is raising your temperature. Cold virus don't reproduce well at higher temperatures.

Soda and alcohol, yes, in a way. Water, no.

Soda and alcoholic beverages tend to dehydrate the body, which can make cold symptoms worse. Water is good for the body, because it hydrates it.

Stick to water and OJ and skip the soda and beer when you're sick.

No, but I would steer clear of booze. This is another toxin that your body has to fight. Cold drinks are generally soothing and as far as I know there is no medical evidence but then again I'm no doc.
Get well.

Not that I've ever heard of. Take some sudafed, vitamins, and o.j. Try echinacea (say: ek-ih-nay-sha), it's an herbal thing from the health food store. I think that warm drinks will just help to get rid of mucus, which is good, but cold drinks won't hurt you at all. Feel better!
