Should an ear infection hurt this much?!?!

Question: God damn, it's like a migraine in my ear. Swollen as hell.. I can't move my jaw without it hurting the damn ear area.

WTF.

I always thought of ear infections as like a cold.. not this painful stuff.

Yeah, they can get very painful...You might need prescription antibiotics. The pain is caused by the swelling of your eardrum. If you don't take care of it, it can rupture. Then you will feel REAL pain. Take care of it dude.

Sorry but yes they do hurt that bad. I have had them get so bad it hurts to move walk or do most anything.
Have you been to the Dr.?

have you tried putting proxide (sp) in there it might help a little
good luck

ear infections can be very bad
i used to get them alot and the pain is endless so yes it will hurt alot

you could have an inner ear infection, which tends to be a bit more painful than a middle ear infection... do you have a fever?

i'd go to a doc to get it checked out, if it IS an ear infection simple antibiotics should help you be pain-free in no time.

no, ear pain is very painful. if you have rubbing alchol then put a cap full in it. it will hurt but will go in the canal and drain any fluid in it. on it's way out you will hear popping sounds. also, you can have a problem with a tooth that is causing the problem. go tomorrow to your pcm. cotton in it to protect it from wind will help.

Go to GP first thing tomorrow - don't delay.
He / she might refer you to the local Ear Nose & Throat hospital's Urgent Referrals clinic.
You don't want to take any risks that might lead to impairment of hearing.

Dont put anything in your ear. Just go see the doc like you planned. Try a warm compress until then. They can hurt terribly...good luck.

I've had this before. Take some ibprofen (spellcheck). It is a build up of mucous that causes pressure. It will eventually drain. Call a doctor though.
