Migraine lasting 10 days??!

Question: I've had a really bad headache for the last 11 days. I went to the doctor last Friday and he told me I have a migraine. He prescribed a steroid to break the headache cycle. It hasn't worked yet and I am in so much pain I just don't know what to do. Has anyone else had this problem or heard of such a thing?

Never heard of one that long.
I used to have 'em.. was connected to hormone levels (in my opinion). Went on the pill and that evened out things and it disappeared after i went menopausal. (no more pill).
Things that worked for me.. I took vicodin when i first felt it coming on. Advil gel caps also were very good and could be taken any time. (Gotta take that on food). I'd think that he could get you a shot of something stronger since it's been 10 days.. as long as someone drives you home.
In the mean time.. things you can try:
if you get that pain in back of lower part of head.. use your fingers to dig into the spot and just hold it there. Helps to release muscle spasms or tension.
also:
try very light preasure on your closed eyelids with finger tips.
or, put fingers gently into ears and pull forward against the front of ear canal edge.
(preasure points) - *you can combine that with the preasure on eyelids if you use thumbs in ears and middle fingers on eyelids.
hot bath or shower might help muscles relax.
Never got them til i went off the pill. Going back on helped.

I would go back to the doctors.

might have water or just chronic sinus pressure

Go to ER and get a shot.

Yes. I am on Propranolol for my migraines and I RARELY get them anymore. It's just a blood pressure medicine.

i have sumatriptan on prescription for migraines, you can buy it over the counter in the UK (it's called Imigran when bought over the counter), but is quite expensive. Hope it goes away soon! xxx

Yes, I used to have them that lasted days. It is most likely hormonal. After my hysterectomy they stopped completely.

Icing the back of your neck with a frozen gel pack will help. As will a hot hot shower and shampoo at the same time. Then wrap your head up really well to keep your scalp warm.

Hot damp towels (40 seconds in the microwave) works nicely also. Put it on your face till it cools, reheat and put it on the back of your neck.

I hope something helps. I was in that place for 32 years. They were the pits.

are you on birth control have you started a new kind anything like that will cause a horrible migraine also of course having too much or too little caffeine in your diet. Have you started eating any new foods, there are so many factors that can cause migraines. I would suggest going to your local store and picking up a air purifier, spring time is around the corner and everything is starting to defrost and get into the air. Also try a massage, it may be as simple as your stressed out.
