Help me!!.....?!
Question: ahhh. im in tremendous suffering. i think i have mono. but thats besides the point. my throat is KILLING ME. its literally about to drive me insane. swollen lymph node and its affecting my ear too. i feel great pain and pressure deep deep in my ear in just in that whole general area of the lymph node. this is what hell feels like! im groaning out loud constantly and just going crazy.
anyways, the question. i just took 2 weak *** Ibuprofen pills. when they kick in its still hurts like hell, but it will at least keep me from killing myself. it says take ONE caplet every 4-6 hrs but if pain/fever does not respond take two. ive been taking two since i got the damn bottle. they're only 200mg each. is it okay to start taking 3 at a time. usually i follow directions carefully. but im in soo much pain and suffering that i was gonna pop a third. but got scared and broke it in half. does anyone know how serious these directions actually are?? plz someone who actually knows about drugs

You can take 800 mg of ibuprofen with no problems at all, and probably even more, without any problem.....there is a reason why they are "over the counter" meds......there's probably not enough in the whole bottle to hurt you much....maybe just a stomach ache, because ibuprofen does upset the stomach more than aceteminophen, which is the drug used in Tylenol. I feel for you....know what bad ear problems are like, and throat problems. I was literally screaming on the phone once to one of my friends, I was sufferering so much in my ears !
The doc prescibes 800mg pills for pain so take about 800mg worth. it won't kill you .

My doctor prescribes 800 mg pills. I can take one every six hours, so you are fine taking 3 to 4 regular pills every six hours. If you exceed this for too long it can cause stomach bleeding, so thats why you need to be careful not to over do it. I really hope you feel better soon, because I know how bad that feels!!
Yes you probably need antibiotics. But you can safely take 1000 mg ibuprofen 2-3 times a day(please don't sue me if you get sick; that is what I take for tooth pain.) That will only help a little if you have an infection. See a doc pronto.
PS The amount of ibuprofen you can safely take depends on your age and body weight. If you are under 12, please disregard this message.
