Something really scared me today.?!

Question: Today I was holding onto something and when i let go my left index finger stayed bent flat against my palm. I couldnt move it to save my life and it had no feeling..just.. sort of numb. Then after about 2 or 3 minutes my whole wrist jerked down so my hand was just kind of..bent down, still not able to move my finger, now i couldnt move my wrist either.

My wrist finally let up then my finger after another minute or so. Now my fingers ache. What could this be??

It sounds to me like it might have been a muscle spasm, a pretty severe one. The thing that you were holding onto, was it really heavy or was it causing you to hold your hand and/or wrist in a weird or odd position? That might account for the spasm. I would put some moist heat (a washcloth dipped in very warm water) on your hand and wrist and massage them to relieve the ache. If it happens again, you might want to go see an orthopedic doctor.

well if those were the only symptoms you experienced I would rule out any major problems like a stroke or something big. I would imagine it was probably just a big muscle cramp/spasm that caused your finger and wrist to act strange.

I had my entire arm do that one time. Freaked me out too.

possibly carpal tunnel
