The symptoms for lacking iron would be lack of energy, shortness of breath, headache, irritability, dizziness, or weight loss. Do a Google on iron deficiency anemia if you feel this is a condition you may have.

Another place to search would be WebMD.

TOO MUCH IRON - WARNING!

Symptoms of iron poisoning include:

Fatigue
Anorexia
Dizziness
Nausea
Vomiting
Headache

.........see a doctor who will give you blood tests that will either put your mind at ease that you aren't iron deficient...or put you on the path to health with suppliments.

You can take to much iron. The best way to find out is to have a blood test done, it's just a simple finger stick and won't hurt, much. You should be above 12 to feel good.

Are your friends doctors? Then why are you listening to them? You should see a doctor. There are a lot of things that cause tiredness.. sleep apnea, thyroid problems, bad diet, cancer, etc.

Consult a professional.

Quick check: Look at your fingernails. One major sign of iron deficiency is white marks on your fingernails. If you have this then go get a blood test done. Could also be a thyroid problem if the fatigue is severe.

i beleive the correct term is anemia.my uncle and a teacher i know have it.low body temp is also a sign of this.my teacher let me touch he hand on a 80 degree day and her hands were ice cold.
**note=the poster right above me is 100% percent right.my health teacher said the same thing.

Deficiencies are caused by something you're doing and not by something you are lacking. A blood test could help but it's not the most effective approach (meaning if you're low in iron, they'll just prescribe iron supplements). Just because you're tired all the time doesn't necessarily mean you're iron deficient. Diet, nutrition, stress, lifestyle habits, emotional and mental issues, are some of the things to look out before even considering iron deficiency. Fatigue can also be caused by adrenal overload caused by the above mentioned sources. If you're not going to bed on average around 10-10:30 PM every night and not drinking bottled spring water with a pinch of sea salt, and not eating a whole-foods based diet (as compared to processed, refined, junk food) don't even entertain the idea of thinking you have iron deficiency anemia.
