I have a question about physicals?!

Question: is it true that they touch your scrotum?

Answers: is it true that they touch your scrotum?

Yes, they do.

It's simply to check for hernias, or other unneeded things. I wouldn't be embarrassed. He gets paid to check you for problems, not to judge you or giggle behind your back because he saw your private area.

Good luck.

Oh yeah baby, you gonna get touched REAL GOOD.

yes it is to test for cancer

Well, first you have to have one. It is a check for younger males to see if the testicles have descended.

yes im 16 and i never did mine yet .. they lift it up and check

yup. don't get excited or it's very awkward.

As my dad told me, & I'm not looking forward to the day, but wait until you turn 40 if you think that's bad

yeah.. my brother told me about his... gross. They ask you to cough and i guess they need to see what happens or something..yuck.

One of the things that a Doctor may look at is the presense of nodules or lumps in your scrotum besides your testicles. They may also check for the presense of a hernia, by inserting a finger just under the folds of skin above the private area and ask you to cough.

This is a normal medical examination and you shouldn't feel ashamed by it. If you sincerely object to it you can ask your doctor NOT to check, but I would recommend it. They are only there to make sure you are healthy.

Good luck!

Yes they do. It is to check for hernias due to the opening from which the testes descended not having closed. If they feel a protrusion when you cough then you basically do not pass your physical and you will need to have surgery to close this opening up. It is somewhat uncomfortable having it done but believe me you would much rather do that than play sports not knowing and have a rupture causing possibly the loss of one or both testicles.
