Could these be symptoms of a concussion?!

Question: Alright, well during a (playoff) basketball game today, the ball was rolling out of bounds on us, and me being me went and tried to save it. I ended up, running full speed into the brick wall, banging the back of my head. (smart, huh?). That was about 5:00 todayy. I felt dizzy, and I was kinda confused, yet I still remembered what happened. My vision is just now starting to get a TINY bit blurry, but not bad. The pain in the spot where I hit my head has spread, making the whole back of my head sore. I have a tiny bit of trouble walking, balance wise. Were playing the team in second place on Wednesday, is it safe to play?
Also, is it SAFE to go to sleep tonight. (It's 8:03).
Should I try to stay up?
Can I go to school tomorrow?

Thanks if youv'e read,

I just want to be safe, you know?

Thanks.:D

You need to talk to your parents, they need to contact their health insurance nurse on the phone...there should be a phone # on the card. The symptoms do sound like it could be a concussion. Your head becomes more sore as time goes on because of swelling. Incing is critical. A dr. told my mom that there should be swelling, a knot, on the outside of head...if it was that hard a blow and no knot you could be swelling, bleeding inside your skull. You obviously are with it enough to be able to write this out.

One thing concerns me aobut your vision. If you still have blurry vision tomorrow, you need to see your eye dr. I hit my head on a cabinet door when I was rising up off the floor. I hit it so hard that I fell back down and saw stars. It was very painful and had a little knot on top of my head. That was the least of my problems. I had a little blurry vision...like when you are sick and matter moves across your field of vision, then you blink and it moves again. Only it was not that...I thought it was a bad new contact I had just opened the next day. Nope, when I complained to my eye dr. he said try another lens, if it persisted, I needed to come in. Needless to say, it persisted and I went in to find out that I had a retinal tear and detachment. What I thought was a bad lens or matter in the eye, was a blood trail from the torn retina. I did not have the typical symptoms of halos around objects, seeing bursts of light, and having a window shade flap up and down effect. From my optomitrist, I was sent to laser surgery in the Opthomologists office immediately and had to go to bed for 5 days flat on my back to allow the retinal laser surgery to take.

I tell you this not to scare you but to inform you and save you some heart ache later. Pay attention to your vision, if you have any of the above symptoms, you must tell your parents and go to the Dr. immediately. A playoff game, while important right now, is not as important as your health and vision which may hold repercussions for the rest of your life. Ignoring symptoms will only make things more difficult.

For your sake, check for a knot. Ice that head 20 min on, 20 min off! Stay up till midnight, I think it is safe as far as concussion to go to sleep 6 hours after accident. Tomorrow if you still have blurred vision or any other symptoms, please see a dr. and if you don't feel at all well, stay home, but you should probably get checked out if you are having balance or confussions issues. Email me how you are abd if you have any other questions.

God bless you!

I've gotten about 6 concussions... i play soccer, softball and have also gotten 4 from punches to my head lol (i'm a black belt in karate) i do think you have a concussion and if you were to go to a doctors they will tell you do not go to sleep for like 12 hours because a concussion is the swelling of the brain and i believe you could die... another big sign of a concussion is being very sleepy as in can not keep your eyes open.... if you are experience sleepiness on top of your other symptoms i suggest going to the doctors tomorrow and staying up for a little while
