Help, my grandma has difficulty walking?!

Question: She woke up this morning and could lift her leg. At the hospital doctors say it could be a muscle pull. Whats the best threatment for a person above the age of 75?

Hi,, I'm very sorry your grandmother isn't feeling well. Since this pain is in your grandmothers leg,, I'm hoping the hospitol told someone to do a follow up with her regular family doctor. And hopefully if she doesn't have a walker yet, they got one for her? If not she really needs one. My mother has really bad legs,, and believe it or not she swears by horse linement. You can buy it at Wal-Mart,, where you get bengay. It really seems to help her pain. And yes it does take longer for older people to recover. But if she's pulled a muscle , she needs to try to stay off of it as much as she can for at least a week,, and then with help, start trying a little each day to walk on it again. If she stays down to long, she may never be able to get up again. Don't give up on her. It will just take time and alot of patience. It's really nice that you care so much about your grandma. Hope this helped

REST

there is no cure, she is getting old. Just make her some soup and let her sleep.

Age is a stinky fish my friend. What takes you or me a day to heal can take her twice that or even more. Just tell her to rest, that is about all she can do.

Rest, ice and anti-inflammatory medication helps. Also, my fiancee has problems with muscle pain, and he finds that the more he uses the muscle (to an extent, without doing too much) helps more then resting it completely. Stretching, a warm bath, walking around, things like that should help.

your granmother is now in the aging process which mean she is becoming less mobile than she was or ever will be..resting method will take a long time..keeping your granmother mobile is important...walking to get the mail everymorning or even to get up turn the light on ..just keep her active and she will have less problems in the longer run..i would suggest to ask a docter what the best method would be....hope your grandmother gets well soon

Rest and heating pad to help the muscles relax. be sure with her age that the temp isnt too high on it though and that you or someone checks to be sure she isnt getting burnt. I would say if they didnt give her any perscription meds that Excedrine back and body may help some. Good luck to you and Im sorry she isnt doing well.
