Jaw pain...?!

Question: I've been putting up with my jaw locking and popping for a year or so now. This morning it locked very bad,and I couldn't open my mouth for a couple of mins.

I AM going to the Dr. on Thurs., I made that appt. a while ago.

Right now I have a headach that goes from my jawline to the top of my head, and it feels like I've been overusing it (it feels "tired")
I can't chew anything ,so today I've been eating yogert.

My question is, whay does it keep doing that? My dentist had thought it was from grinding my teeth, but I don't do that. I still ave wisdom teeth. I was also wondering if there is any relief besides Advil and rubbing it every so often.

Any ideas?

sounds like TMJ. Unfortunately most dentist don't know how to properly treat it. I had to wear a device(like a retainer) that moved the position of my jaw. Then I had to wear braces to correct my bite. I feel so much better now but it took me about 6 years to find a good dentist to treat me. Ask around or do a google search for someone that treats this and beware some dentist will say they will fix it but really don't know how. Thanks!

I am a certified massage therapist who was trained to "Release TMJ" - find a therapist in your area who was trained, especially from St. John's Neuromuscular and Myofascial techniques- this is really what you need and also I would suggest finding a Chiro who knows Edgar Cayce's philosophy and adjustment techniques- This will help so much too- Take Care, Many Blessings!
