Pain in kidney area?!
Question: My boyfriend has been complaining of pain deep in his lower right back since yesterday morning. He says it's right where his right kidney is, and a little to the side. I'm not sure how to diagnose or treat this. I am a massage student, and I have been using hydrotherapy (hot, cold treatments) on it for the past half hour. He said the pain hurts if he twists his back any. I'm not sure if it's just a pulled muscle because I've never seen him react to such pain before over just a muscle. Please give me some ideas on what it could be.

Hopefully it's just one of those things that goes away in 2-3 days. If not, it could be anything from a kidney infection to pneumonia, and he should see his doctor.

he could have a kidney stone. drink some cranberry juice and stay away from caffienated drinks.
he might have a kidney infection or it could be like a pulled muscle like you said if it is his kidneys have him drink plenty of water if the pain doesn't go away i think he should go see a doctor just in case it is his kidneys better safe then sorry my mother has kidney diseases and she would complain of her side hurting her all the time
